CareFest 2002

CareFest is an annual opportunity to show your child how much fun you can have by helping someone else.

Children and park workers worked along side each other to plant flowers and bushes.

Flowers brought smiles to everyone around. Family Service Project. The greatest example to our children!!

Historic Sulfur Springs Park is where everyone came together to launch the clean up project.

The Tampa Police Dept where great sports and kept everything safe.

Children helped with painting (their favorite activity) in order to help restore on of 8 homes that needed work in this area.

Dallas One Constuction painted and restored over 8 houses.

One of the clean up and repair crews proudly pose in front of the newly painted house.

Armed with paintbushes and lots of paint, local representative Linda and child put their artistic talents to work.

Lawns were manicured and cleaned.

Parks personel jumped right in and helped with the clean up.

This little girl is fitting in with the flowers while she plants more. Little girls are never too tried to pose for pictures.

This boy is doing his share.

Workers drove around the different work sites and distributed water and snack to those who were working.

University of Tampa students participated and used the event as part of their community service hours required by the university.

UT students had to grab some grub too. It was too hot to say no!

The Barbeque

chef's prepare the feast for the hungry 300 workers.

Chef's Larry DeLaRosa and Norman Bernard (Dr. Dan Bernards brother) prepare the rest of the fixin's.

The Salvation Army brought out their disaster relief truck and served coffee and snacks to the workers during the early morning hours.

There were waves of volunteers who returned for some food and R & R.

Music by Son's of Thunder brought the event to a festive level.

After a concert of Gospel Rock many responded to an altar call made by Somebody Cares Tampa Bay.

Wanda DeLaRosa, Executive Director of It's All About Kids, gave an overview of the results of all the work that went on that day and thanked all!!
